Celebrating the best in the hospitality and travel industry

Thursday 14 March was an exciting (and busy!) evening for Team Criton, as we were attending and sponsoring the VisitScotland Thistle Awards in Edinburgh and the Serviced Apartment Awards in London. At Criton, we help accommodation providers and tourism organisations enhance their customer experience and it was great to celebrate in our hometown the very best of the Scottish travel and hospitality industry.

2019 marks VisitScotland’s 50th anniversary and the development of the Tourism Act, so it was a very special night for the sector and for the organisation that represents it. Over the last 50 years tourism has become the bedrock of the Scottish economy – now attracting 15 million visitors and generating £11 billion for the Scottish economy.

The 2019 Scottish Thistle Awards rewarded hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, visitor attractions, business and consumer events, and individuals who went the extra mile to provide customers with exceptional service. We were delighted to be sponsoring The Most Hospitable B&B / Guest House, which was awarded to the Newton Farm Holidays and Tours for their incredible work. It was a real pleasure to see the team of The Real Mary King’s Close, our clients, go on stage to receive the Best Heritage Tourism Experience award.

Meanwhile, Team Criton in London was attending the 2019 Serviced Apartment Awards, at the beautiful Park Plaza London Riverbank Hotel, where we were delighted to be shortlisted, along with our client Cheval Residences, for Best Use of Technology.

The Serviced Apartment Awards are the only awards created for and by the serviced apartment, aparthotel, extended stay and short-term rental industry. The awards recognise excellence at individual, team and corporate level.

With the more than 350 serviced apartment operators and service providers attending the event, we had a fabulous night meeting old and new friends and celebrating the winners of the 18 award categories. Take a look at the highlights of the award night in the video below!
